Communication with people through community and
public events helps to spread the word about marine matters. Intertidal
Explorations beach walks, Speakers Series and Marine
Matters activities at local community events are some of the
ways we have reached out to help promote marine stewardship.
These community outreach activities
are hosted by a conglomeration of local agencies and
organizations. They include World Wildlife Fund Canada, Fisheries and
Oceans Canada, Haida Fisheries Program, Gwaii Haanas National Park
Reserve and Haida Heritage Site, Haida Gwaii Marine Resources Group
Association, the local chapter of Roots & Shoots, and QCI
Recreation. Each year at the Tlell Fall Fair, Fisheries and Oceans
Canada has provided a temporary touch tank of ocean inhabitants for
people to experience.
Peruse through this section to see what we have
done over the past years. For each year, a list of events is provided
with links to our Photo
Gallery. You can also browse through marine-themed artwork
contributed by on-Island youth.
